A blended whisky is the product of blending different types of whisky, (malt & grain), blending whisky from different distilleries, blending whisky from different age groups, or a combination of all of these. It is generally the product of mixing one or more higher-quality single malt whisky with less expensive spirits and other ingredients. This typically allows for a lower priced finished product, although expensive "premium" varieties also exist. Blended whiskies can be exceptional and a good example of this is the Nikka from the Barrel, or any of the other Nikka ranges.

Teacher's Highland Cream is a brand of blended Scotch whisky produced in Glasgow, Scotland, by Beam Suntory, the US-headquartered subsidiary of Suntory Holdings of Osaka, Japan. The Teacher's Highland Cream brand was registered in 1884. Teacher's states that it uses "fully smoked peat single malt whisky from The Ardmore distillery as its fingerprint whisky" along with about 30 other single malt whiskies. Most of the output of the Ardmore distillery is used to produce the Teacher's brand
